A view you would otherwise not know about

You may or may not have heard me rave about Snapp Guides, well Snapp Guides has now been replaced by Photohound. It’s run by the same team and is even better than the Snapp Guides app.

Snapp Guides was just available as a smartphone or tablet app. However, Photohound is also available as a fully functional website and app.

Photohound helps photographers find great photography locations, and also great views that you might otherwise overlook. I’ll get more into that later in another blog, but for now here is a great example of what Photohound can offer.

Helping to get an unique view

The photo above is of the beautiful town of Izola, on the Slovenian Adriatic Coast. I’ve been there many times, and photographed it from many viewpoints. But this one is a hidden viewpoint that you would never know about if not for Luka Esenko (co-founder of Photohound).

Along the main motorway that bypasses Izola is a petrol station. If you pull in to fill up you’ll likely not notice the bit of grass behind the fence. And if you do, you’ll more than likely think nothing of it. That’s the mistake…

As Photohound shows, if you venture out onto this grassy patch you’ll discover a unique view down to Izola, the harbour and across to Trieste Bay. It’s stunning, and like most viewpoints, unique.

If you did happen to find this yourself, you’d also likely not know (unless you were lucky enough to be there at the right time) that when the conditions are right, and it’s clear enough after the rain or wind, then you can also see the Julian Alps in the backdrop. This is the sort of invaluable information you get from Photohound.

This photo was shot at sunset (only time I could get there) but Luka tells you that it’s best at sunrise.
