As the years go by and we accumulate so many thousands of digital photographs, especially as a professional photographer, it’s easy to forget about the old ones. It’s also easy to get so caught up with advances in digital camera technology that we tend to think our old photos are not as good.
I’ve recently been looking back at my library of images taken with my first DSLR, a Canon 300D. While I now shoot with a 5Dm3, I still have this old 300D and it still works. In fact, I still sell large prints of photos taken from it, which are only 6MP but printable at over 1 metre.
I found this shot, taken back in August 2005 and remember this moment well. It reminds me that good photography will always be more about catching the moment, than how good our equipment is.
