After photographing Jamnik Church at sunrise, I headed over to the other great church view in Slovenia; Saint Thomas Church in the Skofja Loka hills. I deliberately didn’t go there first because I knew from experience that after a day of rain like Slovenia had had, there was a very high chance the mist in the valley would be so thick you wouldn’t see the church at all. When I arrived I saw that I was right.

Upon arrival the church was buried under the mist. There was just one photographer sitting sadly in his car obviously already having given up. He then drove off!

I first wandered down the road a bit to shoot some images of another church in the nearby hills which was above the mist. I rarely see images of this church. It’s amazing how everyone gets so enthralled by the classic views that they ignore the rest of the beauty around it.

When I returned I setup and waited patiently in the hope that Mr Thomas to give me a glimpse. Eventually he popped out of the mist for a quick look. I was ready, and cracked off a series of shots before he retreated again!

These are my favourites! Hope you like them too!
