“Don’t you have enough photos from that place?”

A question I am often asked by Erin Doors (my wife). Well, many experienced landscape photographers will tell you that when you find a great scene, you must return to it as often as you can.  And it’s true, because in landscape photography you’ll find many a fleeting moment. A good example of this is a view that I often photograph and because I can, I go back to it on a fairly regular basis. I recently visited it twice in one week, and even than there was a clear difference. It’s a view of the Church of Saint Peter in the Slovenian town of Komenda. The viewpoint however, is actually not from the town itself, but from just outside a nearby town called Moste. The photo below was shot on Sept 5th. The field between the corn was glowing in the light, and the colour a beautiful bright, light brown.

One week later

I shot the photo below today (Sept 13th). Just one week later and that lovely bright colourful field in the middle has now changed to dark brown. In May a few years back

So if you can, return to the great photo locations you find over and over again and capture that fleeting moment. It will never look the same.
