Long Exposure over Lake Jasna in Kranjska Gora

I had been watching the weather forecast and Lake Jasna on the webcam most of the week only see clear blue skies. But finally on Friday the weather began to change. A front was moving in from the west bring more cloud. The forecast showed cloud building more towards sunset, so I hoped for some great sunset colours.
 
Alas, the cloud cover at that point was too thick. However, I did get there early enough to capture some great broken cloud over the Julian Alps here. It was a far cry from my last trip here when the whole lake was frozen and the landscape completely covered in snow.
 
I used a Kase Filters 10 stop ND filter here to get a 60 second exposure so I could really draw out the drama that was unfolding over the mountain peaks.

Caught by Surprise

Sometimes a moment takes you by complete surprise. This evening was no exception. I was on a hike up to Smlednik Castle with my family. From this viewpoint you get a fabulous panoramic view of the Kamnik and Julian Alps. However, looking at the conditions I hadn’t expected much to happen. Even so, I have learned never to leave my camera in the car. A lesson learned the hard way in the past. Well, thank god I had learned that lesson….
