Sun rising over Mount Storzic behind Jamnik Church in Slovenia.

The calm after the storm.

It’s hard to believe looking at this moment this morning that Slovenia had been completely battered by a series of relentless storms the day before. The whole storm front had eventually moved off eastward by midnight, and I armed my camera and tripod ready for what I hoped would be some great after storm mist drifting across Jamnik Church as the sun came up over Storzic, as I knew it would this time of year.

Alas, while there was a bit of wispy mist in the valley at dawn, most if it had burned by the the time the sun crested the mountainside. But still, what a moment to behold!

Every year the sun rises over this majestic peak from this viewpoint at two different times. Once in May as it travels northwards, and then again in July as it moves back southwards. Well worth the early morning rise to see this.
