On the run up to sunset this evening, it hadn’t seemed like it would be anything great. Thick black cloud dominated the western horizon and the light was quite cold. However, given that the cloud layer was quite patchy I held out some hope.
Bad weather should never stop a workshop. It’s an opportunity to show just what you CAN photograph & how best to utilise the conditions. On mu Slovenia autumn workshop, we did just that.
Getting up for dawn and sunrise in summer is always hard because it’s so early. But on a recent trip to Venice in Italy, getting up wasn’t the problem.

Located in northern Slovenia, near to Kranjska Gora, is a location known as the Fairytale Cottage. I went here on a scouting trip the other day as I plan to include this location on my autumn workshop this year, which will be five days instead of the usual four.
My recent Spring in Slovenia photography workshop was a great success, and we had some lovely conditions too. After a week of late spring snow in the high grounds, we were treated to some beautiful snowcapped mountains and fabulous light.

The Pagan Girl, also known as “Ajdovska Deklica” in Slovene, is entwined with local folklore, symbolizing a mythical giantess who was turned to stone.
I thought I would start the new year with a review of my favourite photoshoots throughout 2023. While I got some good stuff every month, I have focused on the months that produced some of my best and favourite photographic moments.
