I had been watching the weather forecast and Lake Jasna on the webcam most of the week only see clear blue skies. But finally on Friday the weather began to change.
This image far exceeded my expectations. I had been watching the sunset over Bled the evening before on the Bled webcam and saw how the sun was going down close to the Julian Alps from this perspective. So I headed out the next day.
On this lovely autumn morning, the anticipated golden hour light didn’t materialise.
However, it is often worth waiting for the light a little longer than you think.
I went to Jamnik yesterday for sunrise because the clear outside app showed there would be fog. Sadly, there was no fog. However, local knowledge meant I could adapt and find something like this.

There are many lovely castles in Slovenia, but the old ruined castle at Smlednik is possibly the most interesting. In particular, the views from the top are some of the best in the country.
